With the Champions Trophy beginning next month, there is news that PCB is considering bringing back Shadab Khan and Fakhar Zaman. Shadab Khan was sidelined due to his poor performance as a spin bowler.

Experts and fans blame Shadab Khan and Spin department’s poor performance for failure in Major ICC tournaments. Although he played a key role in winning the champions trophy in 2017, his form hasn’t been the same in past years.

Shadab has led his Islamabad United into victory in the last PSL edition, his captaincy and performance can also be a reason for his comeback. 

Another player who played great in champions trophy 2017 was Fakhar Zaman and it’s likely that he will be coming back for the tournament as well.

He was dropped due to his poor performance and his controversial remarks against the selectors for dropping Babar Azam from the team.

Fakhar Zaman can be a powerhouse for Pakistan if he performs similar to what he did in the world cup 2023 where they chased an impossible looking target against New Zealand. 

Fakhar Zaman is the kind of player every team needs. He can change the game anytime and with Abdullah Shafique out of form, he might be the alternate that PCB is considering. 

There are news that PCB is also considering Imam-ul-Haq for the team. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq has opened together many times and are considered as a good opening pair.

However, with Saim Ayub opening with such form and performances, it’s very unlikely to replace him. Imam-ul-haque has been great in the past having many centuries in his name. His addition to the squad can certainly prove fruitful for the team.

Apart from the above, PCB is also considering 4 pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Hasnain and Haris Rauf to be included in the squad.
