PCB Doesn’t Have Plans: National Stadium Karachi Renovations Begin

With the champions trophy beginning soon, the renovation in all the three stadiums are speeding up. 

Champions Trophy will begin from February 19 with its inaugural match to be played between Pakistan and New Zealand in the National Stadium Karachi. Pakistan is hosting such a big event after 28 years after the ODI world cup hosted in 1996.

This time, Pakistan is not only hosting Champions Trophy but are also the defending champions for the tournament for they won the title back in 2017. 

The rennovation work for all three stadiums is near completion and the National Stadium is specifically exoected to be completed by the end of this month, confirms PCB.

Construction work in Gaddafi Stadium is also near completion and its capacity has increased to 35,000 attendants. Digital screens have been installed across the stadium and sitting arrangements and floors are being renovated to further enhance the experience for attendants and participants during the tournament.

This tournament is very important for Pakistan mainly because international teams have been avoiding visits to the country given all the security concerns for many years now.

While the successful arrangement of numerous PSL esitions and that too with international players, teams have finally started considering the country safe and are visiting for series and clashes. There’s still a negative image out there – scaring players and fans. Champions Trophy is surely a means of altering that image for once and forever.

There were rumors and speculations that the rennovation will not be completed anytime soon but the latest statements from Chairman PCB have clarified the air. He has been monitoring the progress and is hopeful that the work will be completed by the end of January. 

One of the semifinal is to be played in Gaddafi Stafium, Lahore. However, the other semifinal and final are subjected to India’s qualification in the tournament. If india qualifies, the matches will shift to UAE or else they’ll played in Lahore, Pakistan. 

Previously, fans have expressed dissatisfaction with their experience at the stadiums due to the lack of services. But PCB is very hopeful that the fans’s experience will majorly enhance and the tournament will turnout to be a memorable event for cricekt fans, after the rennovations.
