The third test of the border-Gavaskar trophy 2025 is taking place at Gabba. The first two matches played in the five-test match series resulted in India winning the first match and Australia winning the second. Bumrah outshone in the first test and led India to victory, while Travis Head stood strong against India and helped the team secure victory in the second test match.
The third test is being played at the Gabba; however, resources report that rain has caused the match to stop. Australia batted really well and secured a decent target of 445 with the help of Steve Smith and Travis Head’s partnership and later Alex Carry’s partnership with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.
But in response, India’s batting collapsed and it was expected that they would have to face a follow-on but KL Rahul and Ranvinder Jadeja’s partnership and then Burmah Akashdeep’s partnership helped India stabilise.
Rain has also played a major role in this test match. The situation suggested that India will not recover from here with Australia having a lead of 185 runs. However, rain stopped the match and now the match has been announced as a draw leaving the series at 1-1.
This match and this series are very important for both Australia and India. India never wanted this match to draw at such a stage for this would weaken their position. However, Australia must be delighted that the draw for the match was in their favour – securing them a strong position for the World Test Championship Final.
Now that the final verdict has been given and the match is declared as a draw, both teams can now just hope things work in their favour in the upcoming matches. The next test match will begin on December 26th and will take place in Melbourne. And we can only hope to see both the teams playing in their best forms and witnessing great cricketing talent.
