Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of ODI series due to his Left Abducted Strain, leaving South African team with a major setback. He was crucial for the team given his spinning talent and pitch conditions. Maharaj will return home to Durban for rehabilitation and will be assessed before the test matches begin.

Keshav Maharaj is a key player for South Africa as he was the one who took stand against Pakistan in the world cup matches and lead them to victory. His performance and skillset actually made it difficult for Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals. 

South Africa is at the verge of qualifying for WTC final if they beat Pakistan in the series. They are not willing to take any risk at the moment and trying their best to secure the position as soon as possible as they are on top of WTC table. However, the absence of Mahraj might be an obstacle in their way. 

If they win the test series, they will most probably have to face Australia or India in the final and for that they need Keshav Maharaj in full form. Therefore, the management is taking no chance with his injury. However, this test match series is also very important for them and so, they are hoping Keshav Maharaj returns with his spell soon. 

Pakistan has won the ODI series already. And without Keshav, it would be difficult for South Africa to beat Pakistan in the test matches and secure the final position in WTC.

If the injury is of Grade 1, it would take up to two weeks for healing. However, grade 2 strains can take 3–6 weeks, and grade 3 strains can take up to four months. Severity of the injury will decide the rest he will need. The South African Team and Fans are expecting a speedy recovery.
