With BCCI accepting the hybrid-fusion model proposed by PCB, neither of the countries will be touring each other for any of ICC events scheduled until 2027.
The matches requiring India’s participation in Champions Trophy will be scheduled in Dubai. Similarly, a neutral venue would be decided for the matches of Pakistan in the events scheduled to be hosted by India for the next three years.
The official announcements regarding this agreement is to be made by ICC soon as well as the Champions Trophy schedule is expected to be released.
The air has been finally clarified after days of back-and-forth arguments. Both PCB and BCCI were having negotiations over the hosting rights of Champions Trophy for quite a time now.
Given the refusal of India from travelling to Pakistan citing security issues, ICC had suggested to go with a hybrid model. While PCB was initially reluctant to the suggestion, they eventually agreed with the condition of a reciprocal treatment for them in the upcoming ICC events.
PCB demanded a similar hybrid model to be followed for events to be hosted by India until 2031. They advocated for a fair and equal treatment saying, ‘ this cannot be the case that India keeps not travelling to our country and we keep going there.’
After much reluctance and putting up multiple reservations, BCCI has finally agreed to the PCB’s hybrid-fusion model. Thence, it has been finalized that both the teams will play their respective matches at a neutral location given that the events are hosted by either of them for the next three years.
Despite all the progress, no official announcement has been made by the ICC yet, keeping fans and enthusiasts still anticipated for an update.
With the matters being finally resolved, the Champions Trophy schedule must be coming out anytime soon and the anticipation for the much awaited tournament continues to grow!
